ARIIX, The Right Company at the Right Time

By Richard J. Norris

It's rare when you get the opportunity to get involved with a company from the very beginning, and even rarer when it's a company with a management team as strong as the one guiding ARIIX. This team, headed by Fred Cooper, was the same team that led USANA to the top of the network marketing world over the last decade. They have infused confidence and excitement for ARIIX from day one and enticed network marketing legends, such as Tim Sales, to join them as distributors. If you've ever thought about starting a home business and seriously considered network marketing as a vehicle to make your dreams happen, then you owe it to yourself to take a serious look at ARIIX.

If you would like to learn more about network marketing and the power it can provide you financially, please view the videos on the right, Brilliant Compensation and What the Wealthy Buy on Payday, and feel free to include your contact information when prompted to do so afterwards and we will be happy to contact you personally. I Want My Network Marketing Business to Grow, But Do I Really Have to Talk to People?

By Richard J. Norris

One of the hardest things to get over, for many people just entering into a network marketing business, is their fear of approaching others with their opportunity.  Even when they get someone interested in learning more, the phone feels like it weighs a ton when it comes time to follow-up.  Usually this comes from the fact that they are just getting started and are insecure with their knowledge of the business, i.e. the products, pay plan, start-up packages, etc.  This will quickly pass as you get more comfortable with the company you have joined.  But, for many, especially those who just aren’t outgoing personalities, this is a key issue that needs to be addressed early on.
The biggest reason for fear is usually that the person new to the business is afraid that they will say the wrong thing in regards to questions a prospect might have.  What you need to keep in mind, when talking to someone else about your business in the beginning when you are still learning and getting into the swing of becoming a network marketer, is that the more you can keep the conversation focused on “the why” associated with starting a business, the more comfortable both you and the prospect will be and the more  rapport that will be built between the two of you.  Remember, at the end of the day it is you, and not your company that a prospect will be joining.  Try an indirect approach with someone you think might benefit from being in your business, perhaps, “I just got involved in a new business venture.  If you know of anyone who would be interested in adding an extra $1,000 of more in income per month, would you mind passing along my information?”  Hand them your card.  I’m betting most people are not only going to take your card, but they are going to start a conversation with you about what you are doing, because they do, in fact, know someone who could use that extra $1,000 – them!  Now, it’s them approaching you and not the other way around, which allows you to control the conversation.  Don’t go into a lot of detail at this point, perhaps talking briefly about why you joined and attempt to identify the prospect’s own “why”, perhaps saying something like, “What would an extra $1,000 per month do for you?”  The sooner you can get the prospect to identify why making money from a home business might be important to them, the better.  That “why” should be the center of all subsequent conversations you have with the prospect as you work to solve their need.  Then, offer to take their email address and send them more information (hopefully you have joined a team that has developed some outstanding presentations that answer most questions regarding the business), and let them know that you will follow up after they have had a chance to look over the opportunity.  The follow-up is when you should be scheduling a three-way call with an up-line (sponsor) expert who can assist in answering any remaining questions until you are experienced enough to be that person for one of your team members, and that day will come.
Yes, you do have to talk to people in order to build a successful network marketing business, but you don’t have to be the be-all, know-all expert on all aspects of the business, especially when you are just getting started.  Concentrate on the people side of prospecting, building a relationship with your prospect and lean on your sponsor or other experts on your team to assist you in getting a prospects questions answered.  You’re not in this business alone, take advantage of this to the fullest.  You need to keep in mind that you are helping people live a better, more financially secure life by introducing them to network marketing, so use that knowledge to motivate you past the fear of talking to people.

The Truth About Successful Network Marketing

By Richard J. Norris

Successful network marketing is not about your company having the best product on the market, nor is it about your company having the best pay plan. Don't get me wrong, I would never join a company that didn't offer both excellent, consumable products and a pay plan that offers the opportunity to build a substantial residual income. But, in the case of both of the network marketing endeavors that I have been involved, I joined because of the relationship I felt with the person who sponsored me, and you need to realize that will be the case with you as your business is built.

Many networkers get tied up in knots over knowing and selling the products and touting the pay plan that they forget that no one will join your business unless they are sold on you first. People come looking for a home business for specific reasons; extra money, time with family, to supplemental retirement and a host of other needs. Your job as a network marketer is first and foremost to identify that need and then help your prospect map out a way to fill that need using your business model as the vehicle to get there. Don't become so concerned with the information on the products and pay plan that you forget why they sought out information to begin with. You should have genuine concern for how you, as their potential sponsor, can support them in reaching their goal of meeting the need they have. Your job is to build rapport with the prospect and emphasize that you will be there to train them, support their efforts to build a business and offer tips on how they can use your company to get where they wish to be, with your assistance every step of the journey. Concentrate on the people side of the business first, as it is you they join and not your company.  If you're not solving the problems of people who come to you with an interest in building a business, then you simply won't be successful in network marketing.

One of the things that has always excited me about the network marketing model is the aspect of teamwork that permeates the stories of those that have become the most successful. Everyone comes to network marketing with different backgrounds and skill sets, and the most successful organizations within network marketing companies are the ones that find a way to utilize that vast array of talents for the benefit of the team that has been built. It's truly people helping people become successful. And, this is the attitude that must start from the very beginning with the network marketer and their prospect.

Recruiting Vs. Sponsoring in Network Marketing

By Richard J. Norris

When it comes to network marketing, there are two types of people building businesses, Recruiters and Sponsors. Now, both can build big businesses, but one stands a better chance of long term success than the other, allowing the home business owner the ability to walk away and enjoy residual income while living the life he or she has worked hard to attain. The other may be forced to continue to constantly work the business, much like a regular job, to keep the income flowing.

Recruiters: Those that I would tend to put into the recruiter category are very successful "sales people", who are great at getting people to join their organization. They may sign up 5 or more a week. The problems with recruiters are that they have the salesman mind and have never really realized that successful network marketing is a "people business." They are so concentrated on where their next signup is coming that they never take the time to stop and really work with those they have already brought into the business. It seems so easy to them that they throw out a few ideas to their signups when they first come in and then leave them on their own without the guidance they need to succeed. Soon, frustration sets in and they decide that network marketing doesn't work and they drop out, leaving the recruiter with a business that is collapsing as fast as he or she is building it. In order to keep the income flowing they get even more determined to sign up more people, perpetuating the cycle, leaving little chance for true, long term residual income.

Sponsors: Sponsors choose to bring a small number of people into their business at one time, usually four to five, and work personally with those individuals to build their businesses down several levels. This personal training and attention does two things:
  1. It encourages members of your business to work with the people they bring in the same manner, assisting them in getting started the right way.
  2. It makes sure that those you sponsor are receiving income from their business, above the cost of their monthly autoship expenses, which means they will not be dropping out and will be excited about seeing their business grow even larger.
Once these sponsors have assisted someone they have brought into their business to develop a network down at least three levels, they are then free to look for someone else to sponsor and train, confident that they have a solid base for their business that will continue to grow and get stronger over time.

Summary: Recruiters will most likely build a large business faster than the sponsor type, but if they ever stop, because of the instability of the large numbers that tend to drop out, they may never be able to reach a point where they can walk away and be assured of a stable, residual income. The sponsor will build their business at a slower pace, but because of the personal training and attention they give those that join their team, insuring that they are making money and following their example and building their organization in a similar manner, they build stability as they grow their business. Eventually they can safely walk away from the business if they choose, knowing that not only will they receive residual income, but that it will most likely continue to grow without them because of the example they have engrained into their organization. You owe it to yourself and those that have put their trust in you and joined your business to be a sponsor, instead of just a recruiter.

Building Your Home Business in a Positive Environment With a Mentor

By Richard J. Norris

Remember your parent's interest in who you were hanging out with? They knew that who you spent time with was going to play a major role in who you ultimately became. We are very much products of our environments as much as we are genetics. As a supervisor of student teachers, in one of my previous experiences in education, my first advice as they went out was always, "Stay out of the teachers' lounge." Why? Because, the teacher's lounge is quite simply the most negative place in any school. You hear all the complaints about this student and that one, the principal, superintendent and school board. I just didn't want them to begin their teaching careers in a vacuum of negativity.

One of the hardest things for many of the people who are trying to create income from a non-traditional avenue, like a network marketing company, is that they are constantly being bombarded with negative support. Friends, family and others just shake their head and tell them that this can't possibly work (forget the fact that they could pick up the phone and speak with countless individuals who are no longer fighting traffic, asking permission for vacation and can set their own work hours). It's difficult to remain motivated when faced with this kind of negativity, and if it's a spouse that is continually pushing for them to give up it's nearly impossible and many unfortunately don't stay with it.

Why do so many people seem to be more than willing to pile on the negative support for your dream of having your own business and financial security? Fear! Fear that you will succeed and they will be proven wrong. Fear that the confidence that success breeds may change you as a person. And, finally, it may just be good old-fashioned jealousy. They see someone that had the courage to try something that they wouldn't and when they see you starting to succeed, they really pour on the negativity in a last ditch effort to derail the dream. Stay away from the dream killers.

The importance of the environment we surround ourselves with doesn't diminish with time. Even when we become adults we still need to guard against the negativity that can creep in if we let it, and the best way to prevent that is to have someone who is a positive force that we can continue to learn from. The quickest way to success and maintaining a positive attitude in any venture, but especially when it comes to building an income from home, is to find someone who has attained what you desire and hang out with them, absorbing as much of their philosophy and habits as possible. If you can somehow convince them to be an active mentor to you, you're definitely on the road to success.

Build a network of support for whatever goals you have. Find someone who can mentor you through the project and take the action they recommend. They've done what you want to, so who better to get advice from? Many people hate the thought of asking someone else for help or advice, thinking erroneously that they need to have all the answers and "do it on their own." Let me clue you in on something. Anyone who says, "I accomplished this all on my own", is either ignorant or a liar. No great accomplishment has ever been a solo activity, that's why you should have no problem looking to others for help and support.

Finding a mentor, who has navigated the waters you are about to enter, is the single most important thing you can do to insure the success of your home business. Why flail around making mistakes that could have been avoided, had you just been provided some guidance from someone who's already accomplished what you want to?

One of the great things about being in a network marketing business is the team work and mentors that are built in as you build. Everyone brings something different to the table, so your mentor for one aspect of the business, as lead generation, may not be the same mentor you would seek out if you had questions regarding products, but you can typically find someone with the right answer and willingness to work with you somewhere in your team.

So, make your home business environment as free of negativity as possible and find yourself a mentor who can provide you the guidance you need to accomplish the goals you have set for your business.

If You Don't Change Your Life, Who Will?

By Richard J. Norris

The human mind is an amazing thing. It can motivate you with imagination, or helplessly paralyze you with fear. Most people are where they are in life because that is where their mind tells them they are supposed to be. Every day you can find people with amazing abilities stuck in dead end jobs, while others with half their skill set are making millions.

You truly have the ability to change your life for the better any time you decide you've had enough with your current situation, and it all starts with what's going on in the space between your ears. As soon as you banish from your mind the words of failure; can't, won't, and fear, replacing them with can, will and courage, you're on track to changing the current course of your life. It's amazing what kind of change you can perpetuate in your life once you believe in your mind that you can accomplish something. It's why you hear life coaches; whether they are fitness, financial, or business, preach the value of sitting goals and visualizing yourself already accomplishing them, even before you've taken the first step toward attaining them. They know that if you can visualize success in your mind, the hardest part is over.

Unfortunately, human beings find it much easier to visualize the negative than the positive. We tell ourselves that we can't get the promotion, we'll never have the money to live the life we want, and we won't be able to retire early. And, we're not surprised when each of these becomes fact. Many erroneously believe it's wrong to imagine good things for themselves, when having the things we want most in life needs to be attained first in our minds and clearly pictured every step of the way in order to get to the goal line.

Like the junior high boy who doesn't go ask the pretty girl sitting across the gym floor to dance because he's already faced the embarrassment of rejection in his mind, many of us go through life never taking the risks that would have led to success, for exactly the same reason. It's much easier to tell ourselves that we'll never get a break, aren't good enough, weren't born into the right family or circumstance, or any number of other excuses.

If you seriously aren't happy with where you are in life, you are in possession of the most amazing asset you will ever need to change your circumstances, and it's been there all the time. Make a conscious effort to identify the negative images that you have in your mind, that are holding you back, and replace them with positive images of success. You may be really mad at yourself at first when your life begins to take an upward swing, realizing you had this power all along, but it's never too late to find the happiness and success you deserve. Plus, knowing it was you who was responsible means you now have the recipe for a rich future, and it begins in your mind.
